R2-D2 Builders Club Charter

By applying to become a member of the R2-D2 Builders Club, or by remaining a member having received this charter, it is taken that you agree to abide by the conditions herein.

The rules as described in this charter are designed to protect both the non-legal entity known as the R2-D2 Builders Club and its members. The President's decision in any dispute is final and no further correspondence will be entered into.

PRELIMINARY

  1. The club shall be known as the R2-D2 Builders Club (Hereinafter referred to as "The Club"). The club also exists as the Yahoo group "R2Builders".
  2. "R2-D2", "Artoo", "Astromech", "droid" and all other registered trademarks are acknowledged as being the property of Lucasfilm Ltd (USA) and the phrase R2-D2 is used by this club without consent.
  3. "R2-D2 Builders Club" "R2Builders" and the R2-D2 Builders Club logo are the express property of the club, and may not be used or associated with any commercial venture, or be used outside the promotion of the club without the express permission of the president.
  4. Structure of the club will consist of a President (who may or may not appoint individuals from time to time to assist in the smooth operation of the club) and its members. No authoritative framework is required within the structure of the club and with the exception of the president; all memberships and privileges will be deemed equal.
  5. Membership to the club is FREE and voluntary and does not imply expressly or otherwise any obligation of a member to partake in any activity organised by the club or its members as may happen from time to time.
  6. Members have the right to voluntarily surrender their membership at any time by following the instructions in the individual posts or daily digests forwarded from the Yahoo Group site.
  7. Voluntary surrender of a membership does not prevent an individual from rejoining the club at any time.
  8. If a member voluntarily surrenders a membership and conducts themselves in a manner or commits an act contrary to the scope of this charter while not a member, reapplication for membership may be refused.
  9. Membership to the club is ongoing, and does not require a periodic reregistration.
  10. Members found violating this charter may be banned by the president as deemed appropriate. All decisions are final and no further correspondence will be entered into.

TRADE

  1. The R2-D2 Builders takes all care to ensure transactions are fair and reasonable, members agree to indemnify the club from any liability for any grievance arising from any financial transaction that takes place between members.
  2. It is the responsibility of the purchaser of any parts to make reasonable enquiries in advance of the item being purchased
  3. From time to time, members may elect to offer for sale within the group manufactured parts required for construction of replicas.
  4. No members may offer parts for sale outside the club. This includes sales over the Internet on eBay, prop builder forums or any other commercial venture. Members found selling parts, including completed kits, outside the group will be banned from the club, including rejoining the club under their own name or any assumed identity.
  5. The sale of parts is subject to the following conditions:
    a. No completed replicas or kits of parts enabling the purchaser to assemble a completed replica are to be offered by any member except that:
    b. The sale of parts is not a commercial transaction for profit by the member. A small amount may be charged only to cover the cost of postage, and allow for variations in International currencies where sales occur outside the country in which that item is for sale.
    c. Members may offer for sale one complete replica during any two year period of membership. Where a member voluntarily surrenders a membership and offers a replica for sale, the member may reapply for membership no sooner than 24 months after the sale of the replica.
    d. Parts offered for sale within the group must comply with the specifications of the "compleat" blueprints maintained by the site. This protects purchasers by ensuring compatibility with any other replica constructed from club drawings.
    e. Parts offered for sale will be approved by the president by either offering a detailed mechanical drawing setting out the dimensions and tolerances of the parts or a sample of the part being offered for sale to the group being delivered to the president at cost to the merchant.
  6. From time to time, the president may authorise the sale of club related items, which are not directly associated with the construction of a replica. These items may include, but not necessarily be limited to, mouse mats, cups, prints or other promotional items within the club. These items are not to be offered for sale outside the club, and must display the R2-D2 Builders Club logo. The merchant is taken to accept all liability for the use of any material that may be the copyright of another entity.

YAHOO GROUP

  1. Members will abide by the terms and conditions of Yahoo while a member of the group.
  2. Members will not interfere with the rights or comforts of other members in the group, including the right to an opinion which may differ from their own.
  3. Vulgar language will not be tolerated.
  4. Aggressive posts and threatening language will not be tolerated.
  5. No arguments are to be taken to the public forum.
  6. Where agreement cannot be privately met by two parties on an issue, the issue is to be taken to the president and that decision in the matter will by final.
  7. Members will attempt to keep posts on topic - that is - related to the building and construction of a replica R2 unit.

PERSONAL WEBSITES

  1. A member may offer a link to their personal website as long as a substantial portion of that website relates to the construction of a replica R2 Unit
  2. Members will ensure that where a link is offered to their personal website, that website will be free of pornography or other offensive material and will not contain links to pornographic or otherwise socially offensive material.
  3. Websites are to acknowledge the copyright owners of any material published on their sites.
  4. It is the responsibility of the member to maintain the bookmark section of the Yahoo Group site.

Again it is only the intention of this code of conduct to promote ethical behaviour within the group to protect its longevity. Please enjoy the facilities the club has to offer and remember to respect the rights and comforts of others in your day to day interactions.
